For the foreseable future, Spiceworks Desktop 7.5 remains available for download and supported but is looked to be replaced by the Spiceworks Help Desk Server (HDS).
Spiceworks Desktop 7.5: We are not actively working on Spiceworks 7.5.However, "abandonware" was an overstatement. :D Version 7 came out in 2013, I believe, and since then, upgrades have virtually stopped. I even got a T-shirt out of beta testing version 6. Yep, I've been using the on-premises editions all these years. Where do I go in the new cloud based Inventory to do all of that?
I can't find a way to manually enter any of the information I need for those reports. I don't see any way to search for any other devices. The newer cloud based one lists computers. I can then run reports such as the Fixed Assets Schedule, Inventory Summary, USB Devices, and my Purchase Date report. it tells me which printers are almost out of ink, when a new device has been connected, and it allows me to enter purchase dates and purchase price. It then gives me the option to assign that device to a user or a location. It includes printers, bridges, switches, phones-everything. On-premises inventory scans for any device connected to the network. You realize they have a newer cloud based one that also integrates with the Cloud Helpdesk too? When you run the scans on IP blocks and it discovers computers it will also allow you to import them into tickets in Cloud Helpdesk now, so it’s one portal but with more tools.Ĭorrect me if I'm wrong. I didn't test if you may add entity types not yet defined. With GLPI, you may manage assets and consumables not addressed by Spiceworks. I often read mentions of Snipe-IT and of Lansweeper. I mention GLPI IT and Asset Management Software, eventually in integration mode with OCS Inventory NG Team OCS Inventory NG Agent. And if you search in the community, you already find several mentions. So if you want recommendations, you may want to ask the Spiceworks community instead. For those Spiceheads with more requirements than available by this public cloud edition, I don't expect any recommendation by the Spiceworks team. I don't expect another recommendation by the Spiceworks team than to migrate to the public cloud edition. The situation had not changed that no decision was yet made if the inventory component of the public cloud edition will be ported to the VM/Ubuntu solution. But that presentation has expressed stronger hopes for the help desk component than for the inventory component. service providers become active later this year. As far as I understood the presentation on Spiceworld virtual 2020, they hope to advance on their Cloud edition to become able to provide a migration path to the cloud edition before further service degradation of suppliers resp. I've been using Spiceworks on-premises for Inventory since Spiceworks 4.7.ĭo I interpret this sentence right, that you used the on-premises editions 4.7 unto 7?
